Put your hands together and raise your teacups for the brilliant Dylan Barnes.
He’s the winner of our Heritage Bank Slideshow Award for April, having steamed up the competition with his amazing composition, aptly titled “Tea.”
So, how did our photographic wizard conjure such a masterpiece?
It wasn’t a simple point-and-shoot affair.
According to Dylan, the final image is a stunning mosaic, crafted from multiple shots that were meticulously pieced together.
“A good friend gave me a hand,” Dylan shared, proving that teamwork really does make the dream work.
“He helped me to learn this new skill.”
It’s this spirit of collaboration and learning that makes our club so special.
For those new to the proceedings, here’s how the friendly photographic showdown works.
Every month, our members submit their favourite recent snaps for a club slideshow.
The following month, a poll goes out, and everyone gets to cast their vote for their top three images.
It’s a delightful deliberation that keeps us all inspired and on our toes. As our champion, Dylan won’t just have digital bragging rights; he’ll receive a magnificent A3+ print of “Tea,” ready for framing and admiration.
This tangible trophy is made possible by the pride and joy of our club: our professional-grade printer.
We owe a huge thank you to the wonderful folks at the Forest Lake Heritage Bank, whose very generous grant a few years ago allowed us to bring this fantastic resource to our members.
And the good news doesn’t stop there. All our members can bring their digital creations to life, getting their own photos printed on quality paper or canvas for just the cost of materials.
Speaking of inspiration, our July meeting was out of this world — literally.
One of our talented members, Debasish Sarma, took us on a journey to the cosmos with a fascinating talk on Astrophotography.
We were all left starry-eyed by his breathtaking images of the shimmering Milky Way.
Fancy joining the fun?
We’d love to meet you. The club gathers on the second Tuesday of every month at 7.15pm at the Forest Lake Community Hall.
Visitors are always most welcome, so pop in and see what all the fuss is about.
