Oxley Bunnings has reopened its doors three years after it was closed due to flood damage.
The store, on Blunder Road, has been flood-proofed, with large metal flood doors and an increased elevation by 4.5m.
Bunnings said the rebuild would “better withstand future weather events” and minimise future flood damage. Complex manager at Oxley Bunnings, Megan Wrightson said the reopening was important for staff and community members.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to get the store ready, and we’re excited to reconnect with our customers and community groups, many of whom have been waiting for this moment for a long time,” Ms Wrightson said.
“We’re incredibly proud to be bringing Bunnings back to the Oxley community with an all-new store that’s not only bigger and better, but built to support locals through any future weather events.”
Staff who had worked at the Oxley Bunnings before its three-year-long closure were given work opportunities at different locations and were given the opportunity to rejoin the Oxley team upon the store’s reopening, Bunnings said in a statement.
