New Playground for Grove Street Park Doolandella

Finding ways to improve our community facilities and parks is always rewarding as the local Councillor.
With the 2024/2025 Forest Lake Ward Suburban Enhance Fund I have been able to secure a wonderful new playground for local families of the Grove Street Park in Doolandella which is almost complete.
The park will feature a rope climbing play structure, five-way swing set, sandstone seats and shade sails.
I will be opening the park with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic during September.
Keep an eye out on my social media for the date and time.
I have been keeping in regular contact with local families who are very excited to see this playground open.
This is stage 1, stage 2 has been planned to have a shelter, picnic facilities and barbecue area. If you would like to see an upgrade or new equipment in a park or facility near you, please let the ward office know.

Retaining walls at the Forest Lake Sports Fields nearing completion

Brisbane City Council has been undertaking community facility maintenance works at Forest Lake Sports Fields over the last 12 months.
The new retaining wall along the boundary of both ovals is now complete and the fencing will be removed during September.
Council thanks the Forest Lake Junior Rugby Union Club and other park users for their patience during this construction period.
This has been a huge project with many rain delays.
But the finished concrete retaining walls will keep the banks of the ovals stable for many years into the future.
R U OK? Day 2025 is back Thursday 11 September!

During R U OK Day, I will be making sure that I’m checking locals to see they are well and okay.
I encourage you to make it a goal to ask at least one person if they are okay during September.
Whether it’s your friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about go through life’s ups and downs every day.
Have regular meaningful conversations and build trust, so when they find themselves struggling, they know who to talk to.

If there’s anything else I or my Ward staff can help with on these or any other council matters, please contact my office at Forestlake.ward@bcc.qld.gov.au or on 3407 1211.
